I’m writing this letter to inform you about the activities around Sterlite Copper Plant, Tuticorin for past few months.

The company has been targeted for unfounded allegations by the vested interest groups to curb State development. There is no truth in these allegations. Sterlite Copper operations has been running for past 22 years and over the time, the company has improved its performance at various levels. We are sure that if investigated further, the truth will come to light. We would like to bring to your notice that the closure has already affected more than 1.5 Lakh lives and if prolonged will bring great loss to the people and the State.

Keeping in mind the development of the Nation, Copper for India, Downstream Industries Expansion, Community Development, Employment of Youth, Implications of closure on the State’s Industrial development, I solemnly request you to facilitate the reopening of Sterlite Copper plant.

நான் தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள ஒரு சராசரி குடிமகன். கடந்த சில மாதங்களாக ஸ்டெர்லைட் காப்பர் ஆலையை பற்றியும் அந்த ஆலையின் உற்பத்தி செயல்முறை பற்றியும் ஊடகங்களில் பல செய்திகள் பேசப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. ஒரு சமூக அக்கறையோடு இதை பற்றி ஆராய்ந்தால், ஸ்டெர்லைட் ஆலை சிறந்த முறையில் இயங்குகிறது என்றும், அதை பற்றி வீணான வதந்திகளை பரப்பி இந்திய பொருளாதாரத்தை சீர்குலைப்பதற்காக அந்நிய சக்திகள் ஊடுருவல் தான் காரணம் என்பது தெளிவாக தெரிகிறது.

ஆதலால் நாட்டின் முன்னேற்றத்தை கருத்தில் கொண்டு இந்த ஆலையை மீண்டும் திறக்கவும் தொழில் வாய்ப்புகளை பெருக்கவும் உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமாறு தாழ்மையுடன் கேட்டு கொள்கிறோம்.
